Dialogue or ADR - this is throughout this little section of speech.
Sound Design (Creating new sound)- 0:14 when the dragon lifts off the ground into the air, someone had to design that noise because no foley could be perfect for that sound as it doesn't exist.
Foley (sound using objects to create sound) - Horses breathing 0:17, horses galloping 0:33, 2:16 when the horse rider hits his sword against the his front lines arrows making clanging sounds. 3:22 when their armour is hitting against the impact of the horses run making their armour jingle. 3:31-3:33 running water.
Ambiance/Atmosphere (background noise) - this could include people cheering in 0:52 and 3:26 when the cheering and aggression of the riders are aiming towards one another it continues then moments later you hear the enemy let loose their bow and arrows.
The purpose of a Soundtrack
- Tells the audience how to feel
- Establish an atmosphere/mood, creates tension
- Define a change of scene
- Indicates a geographic location
- Add dramatic effect - sooth or startle = horror film, silence sets the scene like something is about to happen
- Stimulates/enhances visual imaging
- Establish a time or a place i.e oriental music heroic music, horns of battle commencing.
- Define or give information about a character (often through a developing leitmotif), making the character have their own music
- Subliminal story telling mode
- Entice the imagination
- Sets a pace for a scene, think action movie sequences such as the battle scene
- Narrative role
- Adds authenticity to a film (creates a sense of realism)
